WAM NY and Pro Mujer came together in 2015 to launch a program called "Woman Leading the Way" that seeks to help high-potential women leaders develop their skills and grow. Pro Mujer currently serves nearly 300,000 women across Bolivia, Nicaragua, Peru, Mexico and Argentina. The organization has decided to start the program in Bolivia but will extend it to the other four countries in the future.
Pro Mujer’s global staff is made up of 70% women, but at the leadership level (mid-level to executive) only 50% of the positions are filled by women. Pro Mujer recognizes that it is often difficult to find the right external women candidates in the countries they serve because women have not had the same educational and career opportunities that the men have been provided. To help remedy this challenge, Pro Mujer is committed to developing and growing women leaders internally and they invest and commit resources to these potential leaders.
