In Urvashi's words: Graduating with a double major in Political Science and International Studies from The College of New Jersey, the last place I thought I would find myself was in Finance. Yet, 2 years later, I have worked for major Financial corporations including Bloomberg and my current role, the Intercontinental Exchange. Through these two roles I have developed strong foundational knowledge in Foreign Exchange and Derivatives valuation, pricing, and risk analytics.
All throughout my academic career I envisioned my future involvement in international Development from a hands-on, more policy oriented role. However, My professional experiences specializing in Derivatives and risk analysis have been critical to further developing a passion for international development in terms of how to make smarter investments in developing nation through risk management and loan structuring. Between conducting research during a field study in Bologna, Italy about the livelihoods of Bangladeshi immigrants during my academic career, and working in Finance during my professional career, I seek to marry the two fields and find the synergies between development and derivatives.
